CIMST offers a new MSc course entitled «Elements of Microscopy».This course encompasses light, electron and x-ray microscopy. It provides fundamental theoretical
and practical knowledge of imaging at small
scales to students with backgrounds ranging from biology to physics and
engineering. The aim is, on the one hand,
to ensure that «users» of microscopy do not treat them as black boxes.
On the
other hand, it encourages
physicists and engineers to exploit their know-how to invent new imaging
methods. The course is taught by G. Csúcs

school discusses the recent progress and current challenges in
biological and medical imaging. Cutting
edge techniques using a wide range of imaging mechanisms such as magnetic
resonance, positron emission, infrared and optical microscopy, electron
microscopy and x-ray imaging are put in the context of selected biomedical
problems. In particular, multimodal and multiscale imaging methods as well as
supporting technologies such as computer aided imaging analysis and modeling
